ANDOVER's MP has visited the local college to learn about the introduction of njew, technical-based qualifications at the site.

From September 2022, Andover College has been selected to deliver T Levels in a range of subjects, including: Digital, Construction and Health & Science. T Levels are a new, two-year qualification developed in collaboration with employers and educational providers to meet the needs of industry and to prepare students for work.

The government has made a commitment in T Levels funding capital investment to ensure that students taking vocational qualification have access to industry standard equipment and facilities. The College is looking to invest in the future of its students and expand on its facilities.

Kit Malthouse, MP for North West Hampshire, recently visited Andover College and was shown around college facilities by the Principal Julie Milburn and the Strategic Leadership Team. The Team explained their ambitious vision for the college.

Mr Malthouse said: “It’s always great to visit Andover College and see their commitment and ambition for the young people of our town. Their plans for the future and delivery of T levels are very exciting and I will support them as much as I can.”

Principal and CEO of Sparsholt College Group, incorporating Andover College, Julie Milburn added: “Andover College are delighted to be offering the Government’s new flagship technical qualifications ‘T Levels’ commencing this September. They provide a real opportunity for colleges to work collaboratively with employers to ensure that the young people who achieve these qualifications are work-ready with the skills needed to prosper in their chosen sector.”

At the heart of each course is a 45-day industry placement with an external employer making up 20 per cent of the T-Level programme.
