Costa Coffee has announced the opening date for its new Salisbury coffee shop.

The national chain revealed last month that it would be taking over the old Starbucks unit in the Dolphin Retail Estate, off Southampton Road, an internal fit out in Next.

Work is currently underway to transform the premises for the new coffee shop.

The new store is set to open for the first time on Wednesday (May 18).

According to a Costa spokesperson, the store will employ 10 new team members.

The spokesperson said: “We look forward to opening our new store and hope the space provides members of the local community with a place to take some time out of their busy day to sit back, relax with their favourite Costa coffee while meeting up with friends and family members.”

The Starbucks branch in the unit closed its doors last month.

It was the city's last Starbucks. The coffee shop on Silver Street permanently closed in May 2020, after shutting in March due to the national lockdown.

However, the Journal understands that Starbucks may be opening a new store in the city centre, although the chain has not confirmed this yet.
