AN ANDOVER project management firm is supporting a national green energy company as it reveals the initial stages of its first vegan anaerobic digestion (AD) plant.

As Britain’s 'greenest energy company', Ecotricity’s overarching mission is to replace fossil fuels with green electricity and green gas. It hopes to contribute to this goal by creating this fully vegan plant which produces gas from grass, whole crop, maize and grain, rather than any animal byproducts.

The plant will supply energy to homes via the national grid.

What’s more, this gas from grass anaerobic digestion plant will be considered carbon neutral, even having the potential to be carbon negative.

Expertly managed from pre-construction to handover by specialists at Paul Winter Consulting Ltd in Andover, this exciting project will also create a number of jobs for individuals living in the area.

Chris Ives of Paul Winter Consulting Ltd. and project manager of Ecotricity’s AD plant, said: “We’re delighted to be working with Ecotricity to deliver this exciting project as they make great strides to provide even more of Britain’s homes with green energy; creating local jobs, boosting the local economy, and reducing fossil fuel reliance.

"As such, this has been, and will continue to be, an interesting and rewarding project to manage; particularly as Anaerobic Digestion typically uses animal byproduct (manure) or wastewater biosolids and food wastes, making this an especially unique process.”

Paul Winter Consulting Ltd (PWCL) offers project management services, focused on the delivery of industrial and energy projects for clients, developers, investment and contracting organisations.

Ecotricity’s first vegan AD plant is planned for completion by the end of this year and will begin to supply energy to homes via the national grid next year.
