A BIG band will be swinging into town to help raise funds for a much-loved community hall.
On Saturday, July 2 at 7.30 in Whitchurch Parish Hall, the Clive Fortune Big Band presents An Evening of Big Band Swing, featuring big band and jazz favourites with vocals from Tori Eglin and Ali Bagshaw. Tickets are £12.50 and there will be a cash bar for wine, beer and soft drinks.
The Band has a wide repertoire of big band classics and jazz standards including originals from the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s as well as more contemporary arrangements for big band. Clive himself has more than 30 years of playing experience. In his early years, he was playing at a semi-pro level in big bands, dance bands and orchestras, even performing with ITV.

Whitchurch Parish Hall has been a central part of the town’s community since it was built in 1905. Since 2011 the hall has been administered by a group of volunteer Trustees. The Hall plays host to a wide variety of events from family parties and the regular productions by the local community theatre group WADS, to live music, yoga and Pilates classes. The Parish Hall is a charity with no funding, this fundraising event is to help with the maintenance and repair costs.
