Children from Year 2 through to Year 6 at Wellington Lions Primary Academy in Tidworth stretched their vocal cords with a special singing workshop recently, in conjunction with the Wiltshire Music Hub.
Claudia Wood from the Wiltshire Music Hub took the budding vocalists through a series of vocal warm-ups, helped them learn some special songs and to practise the National Anthem.
Jake Bailey, head of school for Wellington Lions Academy, said: “The children thoroughly enjoyed the sessions, with many of them dancing along to the rhythm of the songs they were singing. Singing is important for young children; it helps make sense of the world, supports learning and development and can have the same effect as physical exercise in terms of releasing endorphins. Their enthusiasm was off the scale!”
Wellington Lions is looking forward to restarting whole school assemblies imminently, curtailed due to the pandemic, and pupils will use the skills and songs they learnt at the workshops in their assemblies.
Mr Bailey added: “It was such an enjoyable experience that we hope to work with the Wiltshire Music Hub again in the near future.”
