AN ANDOVER-based housing association has partnered with Springpod to offer its first virtual work experience for those looking to discover what it’s like to work in the housing industry.

With applications now open until the end of June 2022, the programme run by Aster Group has space for 200 students and will run for two weeks.

Starting on Monday, July 4 2022, the programme is the first of its kind for Springpod with Aster becoming the first housing association to partner with them.

Participants will be given an overview of the teams that make up Aster and will connect with people across the business to gain more insight about their roles. Each session will then end with a task.

Rachel Credidio, chief transformation officer at Aster, said: “We’re passionate about supporting future talent and helping to make our business and the sector as a whole more inclusive for all.

"This new virtual offering is set to help us with that goal thanks to being delivered in a remote and digital way."

She continued: "We’re looking forward to welcoming the first participants and showing them how varied a role in housing can be.

"We hope our forward-thinking approach to creating an environment where our colleagues have a great day at work inspires them to consider a role in housing, as so many of our team are driven by our vision of ensuring ‘everyone has a home’.”

Sam Hyams, CEO at Springpod, added: "We're proud to partner with Aster Group to provide the first virtual work experience programme dedicated to a career in housing development. This programme will be an excellent opportunity for young people to hear first-hand what a career in social housing is like, live from industry professionals.

"It also enables equal access to experiences for all students regardless of their background, and enables Aster an opportunity to build their future talent pool, something we're passionate about here at Springpod. What's more, the career-ready module which covers general employability skills such as team work, accountability and customer service, will be a key component for anyone looking to take their first steps on the career ladder. I can't wait to hear the feedback."
