THERE was fun for all the family at the return of the Andover Carnival on Sunday, July 17.

After a three-year absence due to the Covid pandemic, thousands took to the town centre as the carnival made its much-anticipated comeback, raising funds for Andover Twenty1, a charity which provides support to children with Down's syndrome, and their families, from birth and through school.

The traditional procession made its way from Weyhill Road at 4pm, through town to finish up by all the other action near Vigo Road around 5.30pm.

Vigo Park once again hosted a funfair, an array of stalls and a stage showcasing more than eight hours of local talent.

Kevin Rush, chair of the carnival committee, said: "It was amazing to see so much of the community out and enjoying the entertainment and procession. As a committee we have really missed this event and we’re so glad to be able to bring it back. Plans are already in place for an even bigger and better event for 2023."

The Advertiser's photographer, Rob Hall, was snapping away, capturing the fun. Check out this week's paper, out Friday (July 22) where a selection of the best pictures will be published.
