A NEW ‘all-American’ attraction has landed at a popular Hampshire shopping destination for the summer holidays.

The Summer Boardwalk - with rides, a big wheel and fairground games - opened at Gunwharf Quays on Friday, July 22.

Andover Advertiser:

Located in The Plaza, the Summer Boardwalk has been based on boardwalk amusement parks which sprung up across the coasts of the USA at the turn of the century.

The attraction also features a 35-metre tall big wheel, with over 20,000 lights.

Coney Island Hot Dog Co will be serving up hot dogs, and there is a sweets stall and a traditional churros stand, as well as a bar.

Andover Advertiser:

Yvonne Clay, centre director at Gunwharf Quays, said: “We are delighted to welcome the new Summer Boardwalk to our line-up of summer activity this year. Offering our guests a unique immersive experience after a day of shopping is something which makes spending a day at Gunwharf Quays even more appealing to our guests. We can’t wait to try out the amusements and food ourselves! For those who prefer a more relaxing shopping break shopping, our floral Summer Lounge is still open.”

The Summer Lounge has seen floral displays and seating brought into the Central Square.

Summer Boardwalk is open daily from 10am until 6pm on Sundays to Wednesdays, and 10am until 8pm on Thursdays to Saturdays until September 4.
