A HAMPSHIRE pub has been slammed with a food hygiene rating of two-out-of-five.

The Coach and Horses in Oxford Road, Sutton Scotney has been given a new food hygiene rating of two, the Food Standard's Agency website shows.

The pub was given the low score after an assessment on Tuesday, June 28.

The Food Standards Agency's website shows that they were given "improvement necessary" for their hygienic food handling, "generally satisfactory" for their cleanliness and condition of facilities and building and "generally satisfactory" for their management of food safety.

Pub manager David Dogson said he had taken over four months ago.

He said: "It's not cleanliness, but we were marked down because of the signage being ripped off the walls.

"We were also missing a training booklet, which meant we lost 15 points instantly.

"It wasn't to do with the food or cleanliness, but more to do with the fabric of the building."
