HAPPINESS, relief and shock was the feeling shared by many students who collected their GCSE results at Winton Community Academy.

Many students secured their place at their college of choice and will be moving on to take on the new challenge of A-levels.

On a very rainy results day students at Winton Academy did not let it dampen their spirits, as many jumped and screamed with joy as they opened their results on campus.

Maylis Reive was in pure shock after she was told she is the highest achieving student in the Year 11 year group this year.

Maylis who speaks fluent Italian will now be off college and was over the moon.

For many it has been a difficult year with Covid lockdowns but students at the school are thankful to all the teachers who kept them going throughout their studying with not one bad word to say about them.

She said: “I’m shocked, happy and overwhelmed. Although it has been harder to study throughout lockdown Winton have been great with teaching us online and keeping us all up to date at each stage.

“I am happy, shocked and relieved with my results and I only just found out myself I got the best grades in the year group, so I am very happy.”

The feeling was no different for student Kate Beckingham who was ecstatic when she opened her results.

The youngster screamed with joy when she saw she got a A in maths.

She is now heading to college to study photography amongst other subjects and described herself as a “creative person”. She said she “can’t wait to get stuck in."

Twins Olivia and Sian Meconi were also overwhelmed, with lots of happy tears.

An emotional Olivia added: “I am very overwhelmed but I am so happy."
