FOOTFALL in Andover has increased over the past five years and can now be measured thanks to a new system.

Andover BID has announced the successful completion of the pilot phase of LIAM (Local Intelligence and Metrics) - the organisation’s footfall measurement system.

The project, conducted over the past six months, aimed to gain accurate insights into footfall within the BID area and identify key visitor patterns.

By harnessing LIAM's state-of-the-art technology, BID says it has been able to gather accurate footfall data and derive valuable insights into visitor behaviour and trends, with 95 per cent accuracy rate.

BID has said with LIAM's comprehensive data, it can confidently engage in discussions, negotiate with stakeholders, and advise businesses on optimal trading periods and parking requirements.

As part of the project, the new system has highlighted a ‘remarkable’ footfall growth of 16.55 per cent since 2019, “demonstrating the increasing popularity of Andover's town centre”.

BID has said the rise in footfall presents “exciting opportunities for local businesses within the BID area, empowering them to make data-driven decisions, optimise operations, and enhance customer experiences to capitalise on the growing footfall.”

The system provides valuable insights on visitor demographics, peak hours, and popular routes, allowing businesses to tailor their offerings and create personalised experiences.
