STUDENTS from Andover College have been celebrating their A-Level, T-Level and BTEC  results.

Andover College students flocked to the campus to collect their results on Thursday, August, 15.

The college once again bucked the national trend with results improving from last year with 16 out of 19 A-Level courses achieving a 100 per cent pass grade.

Subject areas with high levels of students scoring A*-B included chemistry with 88 per cent, geography with 57 per cent, history with 56 per cent and politics with 60 per cent.

The Advertiser spoke to a number of students including Jake Tolfrey, who studied environmental science, biology and geography.

Jake received two As and a C, meaning he can continue to study environmental science at the University of Bristol.

He said: "My next step is going to uni, but for now I'm going to relax for a little bit, treat myself and look forward Bristol hopefully studying environmental science, I'm very pleased."

 

Will Taylor was also on the environmental science course and received two Bs and a C, and will go on to study environmental science at the University of Southampton.

Speaking about his grades, he said: "They do the job, they got me to uni."

Lynn McCandlish is a lecturer for environmental science and geography and told the Advertiser that she was "absolutely thrilled, so thrilled and very very happy.

She continued: "Three out of the five that studied environmental science are going to study it at uni and the others are going to take a year out and study next year, I am genuinely so thrilled."

Keely Ringwood from Amesbury studied human biology, sport and psychology, and received three Distinctions.

She now plans to go to ACC University in Bournemouth to study to become a chiropractor.

She told the Advertiser: "I am very happy, I got straight into uni. Bring on September.

"I’m so happy with my results, they’re unbelievable. I’ve had the best experience – especially with my teachers as they’ve been my biggest supporters and just so lovely."

Aliyah Carlos, from Picket Twenty, is one of the first wave of students to complete her T-Levels, equivalent to three A-Levels.

She studied health and nursing, and received a Merit. She said: "I'm happy with at least a Merit but I would have been happier with a Distinction.

"I will be going off to uni but don't know which one, either Southampton or Solent, I aspire to be a nurse, not too sure what kind so I'll figure that out at uni but definitely want to do adult nursing.

"My teacher was a fantastic support system and so approachable by all students."

Sky Hanchant studied dance and received a Distinction. She now plans to go to Kingston University, she said: "I am thrilled, over the moon, I'm going to go to uni and see where it takes me, hopefully, I'll become a backup dancer."

Grace Burford, who also studied dance, also received a Distinction.

She said: "I am so surprised, now I'm going to go to uni and move away, either LMA London or Shockout."

Kaitlyn Pain, also on the dance course, received a Merit. She said: "I am happy take a few years and then go to uni, maybe, I want to travel and do some volunteering in Africa."

Abi Dimond, who also studied dance, received a Merit and told the Advertiser: "I'm excited, I want to start repping in other countries on an entertainment team, then make money and go to uni."

Luka Szrama studied geography, 3D design and physics. He received two Bs and a D.

He told the Advertiser: "I got into my choice university, Sheffield Hallam, and I am going to do architecture and go on to be an architect.

"I was relieved that it all went alright really, up until this point, I had no idea how I had done."

Business student James Herbert received two Bs and Two Cs, he said: "I'm going to find a degree apprenticeship or full-time work and get a job and go from there, none of this uni nonsense, I'm very happy with my results."

Another student Peter Sloan said: "I got what I expected, B,C,D, and I'm looking for an apprenticeship in accounting, I am happy with my results.

Ben Purser said: "I got what I needed to get into uni and do the course I wanted, I'll be studying geography at Portsmouth."

Chloe Morgan, did a BTEC in Psychology, and A-Levels in Sociology, and History, she received Merit, B, C.

She said: I'm Feeling good, really happy I got into Plymouth uni, and I am going to study Sociology, I want to be a teacher."

Chloe Rollason studied English Literature and Language and Criminology and received a D in both.

She said: "I got into Winchester uni to study, Criminology and Sociology and add a teaching qualification, it's alright never bothered about grades, I just wanted to get into uni."

Kelsey Gibbs also studied English Literatureand Language and Biology. She received a B and a D.

She said: "Very happy with grades, they were better than I expected, I was convinced I would fail."

James Patterson studied environmental Science, sociology and applied science technology and received a D, C, and Merit.

He said: "I am over the moon honestly, I feel so good, it's exactly what I needed and wanted.

"I'm now going to uni in Plymouth for environmental science for four years."

Keira Innman studied film and philosophy, receiving a C and a D, she said: "I will be here for a third year but I will be working alongside that and studying media.

"The main thing is that I passed and I'm glad."

Megan Steele studied film, media and English language, receiving a C and a D.

She said: "My plan now is to get a job and earn money, I'm happy with my results."
