AN ANDOVER-based artist and poet has helped to create a series of inscribed waymakers encouraging residents to explore the outdoors.
Michael Johnson, in collaboration with artist Nicola Henshaw, led a series of creative writing and creative curiosity workshops in Test Valley over the last six months for residents.
The workshops have inspired designs and locations for four waymakers that will form an art trail in the borough.

Test Valley Borough Council commissioned the trail using contributions from the developers of the Broadleaf Park housing development in Southampton.
The artists have also been collecting local ideas, memories and stories to incorporate into Nicola and Michael's final designs which will include a short poem called a haiku, created by residents.
The waymakers, which will stand one to two metres tall, will be made from corten and zinc-sprayed steel in addition to cast aluminium.
Councillor Terese Swain, portfolio holder for community and leisure, added: “This area of Test Valley has some fascinating local heritage, including the ancient, coppiced woodland, tanner’s brook and the remains of a Roman road.
"The artists have been working with the community to develop their ideas and we’re delighted to be able to share the final designs.”
