PUPILS at an Andover school worked together to create a large poppy in memory of those who have fallen.

Balksbury Infant School made the poppy from clay circles the students created, painted and varnished.

The idea for this year’s creation came from Year 2 leader Gail Cox.

Jane Holloway, deputy headteacher, said: “As a school with strong moral values, we feel that it is our duty and privilege to spend quality time observing a two minute silence in order to remember the soldiers and civilians that have died in wars.

"The whole school stood outside to observe this with our clay poppy acting as our memorial with myself leading the memorial.

“Within our school we have a high percentage of children that are from forces families.

“These children have family members away from home at the moment and these children know that their family members are in our thoughts.”
