A WINTER wonderland has been created at an Andover secondary school for another year.

Staff and students at Winton Community Academy have been enjoying the festive display inside the school’s entrance created by ICT manager Rob Elsey.

When Mr Elsey first set up the winter scene in 2000 it was originally intended to be for one night at the school’s Christmas fayre but it proved so popular that it remained until the end of term and has been recreated, getting bigger and better every year since.

Each year, staff and students search for new additions for the display which has become an enthralling attraction for visitors to the school.

In 2010 a whole new base construction was built and this year new high-level bases have been added along with five houses, four animated items and two trains.

Year 10 student, Roman Pitman, said: “The display really gives Christmas a magical ambience. The display is enchanting and fills me with Christmas spirit when I study the elaborate models and machines.

“It’s like Winton has its own winter wonderland!”
