PUPILS from a Barlows Lane have been chosen as the winners of an inaugural competition.

Pupils from a range of local primary schools took part The Enterprise Cup on Friday, 2 February.

Eight of Anton Junior School's pupils took part in the challenge, which involved planning an entertainment/food and drink package around a specific budget for a visit from The Queen.

Anton's Year 6 pupils used a PowerPoint presentation to showcase their ideas, which was judged by headteacher Russell Stevens.

The winners were commended on how confidently they presented and are now the proud owners of the cup, which has been adorned with Anton’s green ribbons.

Deputy headteacher Nicola Wells said: “We were so proud of the way in which the pupils tackled this brand new competition.

"For them to then go on to win it really highlighted the lengths they went to.”

Hosted by John Hanson School, the new competition is now set to run annually.
