A FAMILIAR face throughout Basingstoke will soon become a regular fixture in homes across the nation.

Each year people eagerly anticipate the Christmas adverts from all various supermarkets.

However, this year one advert has an added element of excitement for a Chineham based dancer.

Shivani Dawett, who is the crew leader at FatBoyZ Dance Company in Basingstoke features in the latest Marks and Spencers advert titled Go Jumpers for Christmas.

The advert sees the 21-year-old come burst into a room full of energy where a family are sat on the sofa before doing the adverts tag “shoulder roll”.

But for the FatBoyz dancer, she didn’t initially know what the role would be.

She said: “I went through an audition process, where the role was for a 14-year-old girl, coz apparently I look that young.

“I didn’t know what the role was for, but I thought I would give it a go, and after the audition the casting manger was really impressed with me and offered me a featured role in the advert.

“They then told me it was going to be for the M&S Christmas advert, and I couldn’t believe it.”

Shivani is no stranger to being on the big stage as FatBoyZ has performed at the likes of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and various festivals.

But this was the first time Shivani had done something for TV.

She added: “It was a really fun experience. Even though I was being directed I could free-style my dance apart from the shoulder roll.”

The FatboyZ crew leader will have her 30 second segment shown at various points in the run up to Christmas as well as featuring in the full-length M&S advert.

“Christmas is my favourite time of the year, so it is incredible to be part of this and be part of something that will mark the festive season for the year.”
