A WOMAN has got her independence back after winning a state-of-the-art mobility scooter.

Lorraine Evemy, from Basingstoke entered a competition run by Mobility Connect Ltd in November where entrants could be in with a chance of winning a mobility scooter worth £1,495.

To be in with a chance of winning Lorraine had to comment mobility firms Facebook page writing what difference the piece of equipment would make for them.

The Basingstoke resident was among 3,5000 people who commented on the post to be in a chance to win the new scooter.

Lorraine wrote: “The would really be such a life changer for me. I find myself avoiding so many outings as I can't walk any distance.

“This would give me back my independence. I could feel a little like 'me' again.”

After seeing Lorraine’s post the mobility company, which offers people who offer a wide variety of adjustable beds and rise recliner chairs, especially designed for relaxation as well as scooters, contacted the Basingstoke resident to inform her that she had won.

On December 4, Lorraine was presented with her new scooter by a representative from Mobility Connect.

She said: “This is going to make such a difference to my life. I haven't been into our town centre or anywhere that involved walking due to long-term pain for a good while now.

"I am one of the invisible disabled as I look well but suffer with so much pain, numbness, balance issues ,pins and needles to name but a few symptoms.

"I nearly had a fall in a local shop last week and went home to look at buying a scooter when I won this beauty.

"Thank you so so much. I really do love my new wheels."

A spokesperson from Mobility Connect added: "We are glad you love your new wheels and wish you many years of freedom."
