Firefighters got in deep when the they were called to a sewage treatment plant east of Chineham.
Crews were called to Whitmarsh Lane at 3pm on Wednesday November 12.
Two engines were brought to help rescue a swan at the bottom of an eight-metre-deep pit.

Stuck in a water treatment pit in Chineham, the bird was retrieved by firefighters, including one of our newest graduates, and released uninjured.

The crew from Basingstoke grabbed their climbing gear and descended into the pit.
One of the crew's newer recruits worked with a animal welfare officer to bring the swan out.
After 90 minutes, crews got the stop order, and the bird was safe and well.
