Having in lived in the area for 50 years, it seems that when I first moved here from London the town was vibrant and you felt the borough council was acting on behalf of the townsfolk.

However over the last 10 years or so, the impression is that the council is only interested in making money.

Even our local MP was caught up in the MP’s expenses scandal.

You only have to look at the number of new properties being built as an example. I appreciate we need more housing but when it comes to helping townsfolk have good sports facilities, such as football and ice hockey etc. the council do not appear to want to put ‘our money’ into improving these facilities.

In fact, it seems that in the case of football they are happy to let the club die!

As pointed out there is a covenant valid up to 100 years covering the Camrose (thank you, Gazette). I cannot understand why the owner of Camrose has not now been told to return the area to its original use. How much money does he want?

Is it me or do other townsfolk get the same feeling?
