THE weather may have taken a turn for the better, but now more than ever people are being urged to stay at home.
This weekend marked the start of the Easter holidays, and with it came blue skies and temperatures in the high teens.
It prompted the government, police, local councils and more to double down on advice to resist the urge to get outside and make the most of the sun.
At last night’s No 10 press briefing, Dr Stephen Powis was loud and clear in his message: “The sun might be out, but that does not mean that you should be out.”
But how closely are we following that advice so far?
Photos show some of Basingstoke’s favourite leisure spots, including Eastrop Park, War Memorial Park and Black Dam Ponds Park, bathed in sunshine but unusually quiet.
And though there were some people out and about - some feeding the ducks and sunbathing, police say - officers have confirmed that the “majority” were following social distancing guidelines and being “mindful” of others.
