A MAN was taken to hospital after an assault in Basingstoke on Friday evening.

Police say they were called at around 8.20pm to a report of a 21-year-old man having been assaulted in Claythorpe Road.

Upon arriving at the scene, they found he had suffered injuries to his left arm and chin. He was eventually taken to hospital.

Officers investigating the incident are keen to speak with anyone who may have information that could assist them.

In particular, they would like to speak to with anyone who saw a group of four to five men, who were wearing hooded tops, in the Claythorpe Road and St Michael’s Road area on Friday night.

A statement from police read: “Maybe you saw a group, or have CCTV outside your home or a dash cam in your car that captured footage of a number of men in the area?
