BASINGSTOKE police have upped patrols after two people were stabbed in the space of 24 hours.

In a weekend of bloodshed, a teenage boy was attacked in broad daylight in Brighton Hill on Saturday while the following evening, a man in his 40s was rushed to hospital with stab wounds after a “drug deal went wrong” in South Ham.

It comes just weeks after two men were stabbed on Bank Holiday Monday in Winklebury, after a brawl.

Officers said they were upping their patrols in response to the recent crime as the father of one victim spoke to the Gazette about his concerns of youth violence.

The parent of the 17-year-old boy, who remains in hospital with severe injuries, said he feared teenagers were running wild because there were “no consequences”.
