Basingstoke has been named the second most sexual place in the UK, according to a study.

The town has the second highest numbers of orders for sexual-boosting supplements in the country.

Our Hampshire town was only pipped to the post by Walsall in the West Midlands.

The research, compiled by Supplement Place, also took into account the towns and cities investing in their sexual health and those who are searching for ways to "rev things up".

Its findings discovered there are 392 orders for sexual health supplements including performance-boosting vitamins per every 10,000 people.

This puts Basingstoke second in the country, behind Walsall.

In third, came Nottingham followed by Norwich, Preston and Aylesbury.

Guildford came seventh with Crawley, Ipswich and Exeter making up the rest of the report.

It comes after a recent survey showed the places in the UK which purchased the most sex toys and lingerie in lockdown.

According to erotic gift seller Lovehoney, Sunderland spent more money on the above than any other part of the UK.

The number of adult accessories bought in the city rose by 82 per cent.

Areas in Scotland had the second and third biggest spending, with sex toy purchasing increasing by 80 per cent in Paisley and 78 per cent in Dumfries.

At the other end of the scale, the Outer Hebrides and the Shetland Islands spent the least under lockdown, followed by Guernsey, Perth and Guildford.

MTV star Charlotte Crosby, who grew up in Sunderland, said: "I always knew Mackems were the most passionate."

Lovehoney analysed spending habits in 1,800 locations to discover how lockdown affected the UK's sex habits.

A spokesman said: “Sunderland is the UK’s sexiest place with the biggest rise in sexual activity since lockdown.
