Emergency services rushed to the scene of a serious crash in Oakridge tonight. 

Police, fire engines and ambulances were called to Wateridge Road just after 9.10pm to reports of a road traffic collision.

Witnesses described hearing an "almighty bang" after a transport ambulance crashed into the garden on a property on the street. 

A spokesman for Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service said they were called to a road traffic collision with a vehicle crashed into the front garden of a home on Wateridge Road. 

They said the call came in at 21.12 but no action was needed by the fire service.

They told The Gazette: "[I] heard an almighty bang about 9pm my husband went to look and saw several cars stopped by the island.

"The island was flattened and someone was laying in the road. There were lots of people out blocking the road and diverting the traffic.

"Several minutes later an ambulance, fire engine and police turned up. They were here quite a while, the transport ambulance is still in the garden of a house on Wateridge Road with police looking into it. The road is so dangerous.

"I don't know what happened but hope that all involved will be ok."

It is not known whether anyone was injured. 

The police and ambulance service have been contacted for comment.
