Part of the ring road was closed this afternoon after a car crashed into a tree.

Police have confirmed that the Ringway South has now reopened between Hackwood roundabout and Black Dam roundabout after the collision blocked the carriageway this afternoon.

One vehicle was involved, and the driver was treated by ambulance crews for minor injuries.

It happened just before 2pm (Saturday), with the vehicle coming to rest in the central reservation and affecting the eastbound carriageway.

Hampshire Police has confirmed that no arrests have been made and the road was reopened.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said: "We can confirm that officers were called out to an incident at 1.59pm this afternoon (20 March) to reports of a single-vehicle collision on the A30 Ringway South Northbound carriageway.

"A grey Toyota left the road and collided with a tree before the vehicle came to rest in the central reservation.

"As a result, the A30 was closed between the Hackwood roundabout and Black Dam roundabout for a short due to a tree blocking the carriageway – but was reopened after it was cleared by the Highway Agency.

"South Central Ambulance Service attended and treated the driver for minor injuries. No arrests have been made."
