A ROMSEY author who admitted stalking a woman four months after previously being sentenced for the same offence has now been sent to prison.

Graham Steed, 69, appeared at Winchester Crown Court this morning charged with stalking the Bishop's Waltham resident, and admitted that he tasked a friend to attend her address and obtain photographs and a report.

The court heard how Steed, who was also a tutor, tasked a friend in June this year, named only as 'Joe', to visit his victim's address and take photos mainly of cars, to see if "anyone was committing adultery".

Joe had previously not heard from Steed, a former tutor of his, for six years before being asked to carry out the task.

After becoming suspicious of Steed and his activity, Joe said to steed "it sounds like you have a bit of a thing for this woman" according to prosecuting barrister Janice Brennan.

Sentencing him to a total of eight months in prison, Judge Jane Miller QC said: "You reoffended only four months after (the previous sentence). Using someone else was deeply underhanded."

Steed previously admitted stalking the same woman over a period of two years, hiring a private investigator and trying to install covert cameras in a neighbour's garden.

He met the woman through tutoring her daughter for her GCSEs in 2015.

Steed was sentenced to two months behind bars for stalking causing anxiety for the June offence, and a further six months of his previous suspended sentence was activated. He will serve half of the total eight months in custody before being released on licence.
