A CHARITY which supports autistic people across Hampshire and Dorset is auctioning high-profile memorabilia.

Autism Wessex is working with its partner AFC Bournemouth and its ambassador Harry Redknapp to run the online sale.

There will be a signed football and football shirt from the team as well as a signed copy of Redknapp’s book, ‘It Shouldn’t Happen to a Manager'.

Former AFC Bournemouth and Saints manager Harry Redknapp said: "As Ambassador for Autism Wessex, I am so proud of the work they are doing throughout the lockdown.

"The team are working hard to keep the specialist school, Portfield School, open not only for their own pupils but for children of care workers who need extra support at this time. Fundraising efforts are now online. Please help to continue their amazing work."

The online auction can be found at https://auction.autismwessex.org.uk.

Money raised will help the charity support young adults through Covid-19 and beyond, providing them with life skills, employment skills, and helping to prepare them for their futures.

Through previous fundraising support, Autism Wessex has been able to provide life-changing projects for those living with autism.

These include a forest school to encourage learning about the environment, a sensory multi-use games area for the charity’s specialist education centre, and a bike workshop with specially trained tutors to teach road safety.

Siún Cranny, CEO of Autism Wessex, said: "Covid-19 has brought a halt to many of our planned fundraising efforts.

"This has been a huge worry for us as it is so crucial right now to continue supporting our children, young people and adults in communities across the region to ensure their wellbeing and safety during what is such a troubling time for them.

"Thanks to the fabulous support of AFC Bournemouth and Phoenix Digital Media, we are still able to keep up our efforts online. If you are a footie fan, this is the auction for you."
