THE MP for Winchester has said that there are “very serious questions” that need to be answered after a double-decker school bus crashed into a railway bridge, leaving five children needing hospital treatment.
Emergency services were called to Wellhouse Lane, in Headbourne Worthy, at 8.10am after the roof of the bus on its way to Henry Beaufort School was torn off.
Three youngsters were to taken hospital with serious injuries while 12 others suffered minor injuries, two of which have since been taken to hospital however their injuries are still being treated as minor.
Following the incident, MP Steve Brine told the Chronicle: “Thank you so much to those on the scene, the emergency services and above all the students for the way they have responded to this shocking incident with cool heads.
“Of course no-one shouldn’t jump to conclusions or speak without the facts but it’s obvious there are very serious questions to be answered here and constituents should know they are already being asked.
“Thank you to the police, county council, parents and school for their updates.
"Any parents or students who need to speak with me shouldn’t hesitate to get in touch.”
