THERE has been a drop in alcohol-fuelled antisocial behaviour in Winchester over the last four years.
Between 2016 and 2017, police had to deal with 30 incidents in the city centre which involved intoxicated people.
But in 2018 and 2019, this number dropped to just 12. According to city council officer Davina Domone-Hollands, there will be even fewer incidents this year.
This comes as the licensing and regulation committee look to renew a PSPO in the city centre – an order which aims to create an alcohol controlled zone.
Cllr Fiona Mather said: "This is something that should definitely be renewed."
The order also gives police more powers to help those with alcohol problems to seek help and recover.
Its end goal is to remove drunken antisocial behaviour from the area all together.
The new order will expire in October 2023.
