AN INVESTIGATION has been launched after an attempted theft of a cash machine in Overton.

The police were called to the Co-op in Winchester Street, in Overton at 3:19am on Monday 8 January, to a report of a theft of a cash machine.

Officers attended the incident and found that the cash machine had been damaged and pulled out of its standalone unit, with debris being left on the ground.

According to the store, no cash was taken in the attempt.

So far, no arrests have been made in regard to this incident.

The shop closed following the incident, but has since re-opened at 10:30am, as the inside of the building did not sustain any damage from the attempt.
