Dinton v Wherwell.
On a cloudy and windy day at Dinton, Wherwell lost the toss and fielded.
After nine balls the rain came down and the players were off the field for 45 minutes which was later to affect the Wherwell innings. Dinton got off to a reasonable start, but then soon started to find the boundaries but losing wickets at the same time. Their innings was held together by one player and he helped them to 177 all out, with the pick of the bowlers Nathan Young 4-23 and Mark Petman 4-41.
It was worked out that by the Duckworth-Lewis method Wherwell needed 134 off 27 overs. The first five overs were maidens until Ian Whyton reached 34 before being bowled then 23 not out came from Young who tried to get near the target but it just proved too much in the end and they finished on 113-7 off 27 overs.
Wherwell v Bishopdown.
On a very sunny afternoon at Wherwell, the home team were asked to bat first and the innings was held together by a wonderful 82 from Craig Beckingham.
Once he was out James Spackman continued and finished with 52 not out. With other useful contributions Ryan Young 42 and Nathan Young 25, Wherwell made 241-5 off 40 overs. Wherwell used nine bowlers to give everyone a chance as Bishopdown made 119 all out with notable bowling from Beckingham 5-16 and Richard Rowles 3-10.
