ANDOVER Tennis Club held their Junior Tennis Championships, with over 40 players, aged six years to 18 years.

The under-six red ball singles was won by Xanda Martin beating Eloise Winnett 10-4.

The under-eight event was won by Isabelle Shipway, who beat Xanda Martin in a very close match 10-9.

The under-nine orange Ball girls saw Maria Sharova beat Isabelle Shipway 4-0 and the boys’ title went Matthew Gates after a 4-3,4-2 against Matthew Hide.

The under-10 boys green ball singles was won by Matthew Cooke, who beat Matthew Gates 4-3, 4-3, in another very close match.

The girls’ under-10 singles was won by Maria Sharova who beat Louisa Murn 4-0.

In the under-12 boys’ singles Artyom Sharov beat Jessie Sidonik 6-1, 6-0 and in the girls event Savannah Jamieson beat Egna Mutedzi in a very tight battle, 4-6, 6-5, 10-8.

At under-14 level, the boys’ singles was won by Kyrill Kennett with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Miles Cole. Imogen Reid won the girls’ crown after a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Eleanor Murn.

In the under-16 boys’ singles Kyrill Kennett had a very tough match against Mark Mackie, just emerging as the winner 7-5, 6-3.

In the under -18 boys singles Gregor Corcoran had a real battle against Tom Lee in the first set, just winning 7-5, before taking the second set 6-0.

In the doubles events, the under 12 boys title was won by Matthew Cooke/Matthew Gates who just beat Artyom Sharov/Jessie Sidonik 7-5, 6-3.

The girl’s under 14 was won by Egna Mutedzi/Immie Reid, who beat Eleanor Burrows/Niamh McMahon 6-0, 6-1.

The boys crown was won by Myles Cole/Kyrill Kennett who beat Alex Bilborough/Olly Hall 6-1, 6-0.

The under-18 doubles was won by the Mackie brothers, Tommy and Mark, who had a titanic battle against Gregor Corcoran/Tom Lee, just taking the match on a tie-break 1-6, 6-2, 10-5.

Special Awards were presented to the mini juniors, Xanda Martin, Matthew Gates and Maria Sharova, who have made great progress this year.

The two juniors Egna Mutedzi and Artyom Sharov were presented with awards for outstanding progress and an award was given to Mark Mackie who represented the Andover club and Hampshire at Wimbledon this summer.

The club junior award went to Eleanor Murn, Immie Reid and Ruby McIntyre who have been excellent tennis leaders helping to coach the mini players throughout the year.
