ANDOVER New Street moved three points clear at the top of the Wessex League Division One after they won 2-1 at leaders Tadley Calleva.

The visitors collected the three points the hard way as they fell behind at Barlow's Park after Brett Denham netted a rebound from a free-kick after 10 minutes.

New Street levelled as Callum Sweeney was tripped and he dusted himself down and scored from the spot.

Just after the hour, Sweeney questioned a linesmen's decision and received his second yellow card so reducing New Street to 10 men.

However, this did not stop them scoring the winner as Luke Neller had a wind assisted free-kick into the bottom corner.

At this point the visitors went to four at the back, before this they had played with three at the back and Casson Spencer, Lewis Alderman and Gary Thorne were outstanding.

Tadley came looking an equaliser and Jazz Beavis cleared off the line, while Zach Neve had the ball in the net, but it was disallowed for handball, even if the ball went in off his chest and he had the mark on his shirt to prove it.

After the game, manager John Smith said: "It was a fantastic win and proves we are top on merit as they are a good side."

New Street are back in action on Tuesday night, when they entertain Winchester Castle in a North Hants Senior Cup quarter-final tie.
