LONGPARISH crashed to their first defeat of the season against Hampshire County Division One title rivals Ropley, writes CHRIS DE CANI.
Ropley won the toss and with former Hampshire and England player Shaun Udal was the first wicket to fall run out in the second over.
The Ropley batting shorn of big hitting South African Niemand through injury, Longparish had hopes of extending their unbeaten run to five.
But a classy 82 by Rob Smith and a patient unbeaten 48 from Jack Oxenham saw Ropley to a final total of 268.
Matt Donaldson cleaned up the Longparish openers Michael Taplin and Ben Gardner and Seb Newens took 3-33 to restrict Longparish to 67-5.
Scott Sturt and Jack Levy got the Longparish hit thirty odd each as the Longparish lower order briefly rallied before the innings closed 82 runs short sending Longparish down to fourth place in Division One.
Longparish II are still seeking their first win in County Division Four North after an 80-run defeat at home to Oakley and now face a tough tie away to high flying neighbours Wherwell.
Cameron Proctor hit 37 and Alex Bundy took 3-44 but neither could prevent Longparish III slipping to defeat against Amport II.
