LONGPARISH kept themselves in the Hampshire League County Division One promotion hunt after beating visiting league leaders Hythe and Dibden.

The home side won the toss and in high heat opted to bat.

At 60-4 in the 18th over Longparish were up against it but a 145 5th wicket partnership between Paul Blackmore, 55 and Jack Levy 91 saw the Test Valley side close on 230-5.

In reply Tom Gates and Andy Wakely put on 54 for the first wicket but the introduction of Harry Martin to the Longaprish attack proved decisive as he ripped through the Hythe top order bagging 6-17.

Chris Clarke chipped in with three wickets as the Hythe innings ended 135 runs short lifting Longparish to fourth spot.

Longparish cross the water to the Isle of Wight to take on Ryde this weekend.

Longparish II travelled east to Medstead, batted first and posted 200 from their 45 overs with evergreen George Kousseff the principle contributor with 88.

Nathan Smith and Harry Samways bagged three wickets each to secure a much needed 37 run win for Longparish II

Longparish III's game against Redlynch and Hale II was cancelled due to absence and illness.
