LONGPARISH promotion hopes in Hampshire League County One were dented as they lost by three wickets at Ryde, writes CHRIS DE CANI.

The visitors batting first and in high heat got off to a great start as Dan Bearpark (58) and William Samways (60) put on 138 for the first wicket.

Jack Levy chipped in with 39 and Martyn Cook added 28 as Longparish posted 248 from their 50 overs.

An extended tea to take in the second half of England's World Cup quarter-final emboldened Ryde who cruised past the target with four and a bit overs to spare with Cameron Mitchell top scoring with 71 and extras the second highest scorer with 52.

Longparish II continued their rise up the Hampshire League Fourth Division league table completing three wins on the bounce after a seven wicket win over Twyford who were dismissed for 119 with new dad Sam Trinder bagging 5-21.

Jamie Blackmore was unbeaten on 39 as Longparish II passed the target with the 29 overs to spare.

Longparish III were bowled out for 189 in their Regional Division One North West at East Woodhay as they lost by six wickets.
