LONGPARISH sunk bottom side US Portsmouth to keep themselves in the Hampshire League County Division One promotion hunt, writes CHRIS DE CANI.

In high heat Longparish lost the toss and were surprised to be invited to have a bat.

Michael Taplin and Dan Bearpark put on 116 for the first wicket before Taplin departed for 57.

Bearpark was dismissed for 39 and Jack Levy thumped 40 as Longparish posted 262-7 from their 50 overs.

In reply US opener John Brazier dug in for a 95 ball 55 as wickets fell at the other end with Sam Trinder taking 6-27 and Chris Clarke 3-31 in an 145 run win for the Test Valley side.

Longparish II secured their fourth win on the bounce away at Silchester in a County Division Four tie.

Evergreen George Kousseff top scored with 31 in their winning of total of 196-9.

Harry Griffin then took 4-12 as the home side were bowled out for 182.

Longparish III lost a tight game to visiting South Wilts IV by four wickets.

Simon Paine top scored for 63 in their 134-7 and Jack Proctor took 3-51 as the visitors reached 136-6.
