Newly promoted to the Wessex League Premier Division Andover New Street have announced that Aldridge Vehicles will be their new home shirt sponsor.

The club also proudly announced that their tracksuits will be sponsored by Shearmans Ltd.

As well as finishing runners-up to Christchurch in Division One, they also completed a cup double by winning the North Hants Senior and Andover Open Cups.

This season for the first time in the club’s history they be taking part in the FA Cup when they host Romsey Town in the extra preliminary round on August 11.

Andover New Street continued their build up to the new season last week, with a 2-2 draw at Kintbury Rangers.

New signing Danny Urry and Luke Neller were the men on target in the draw.

New Street have most of last year’s promotion squad back and have added former Andover and Salisbury star Urry as well a couple of local Andover boys, who have returned from Wessex Division One side Laverstock and Ford.

They are goalkeeper George Baxter and midfielder Max Allen from .

John Smith said: “We have been training since May 10 and the boys are really fit.

“It is exciting times at the club. We have a tough opening game in the league at Bashley, but this is first time we have played at this level and we are going to give it a go.

Smith is pleased with the FA Cup draw at home to Romsey and said: “I look at the FA Cup and think we have a chance against Romsey and also Eversley and California in the next round if we were to win.”

After Saturday’s game with Andover Town at the Portway on Tuesday night they host Andover New Swifts, before they kick off their league campaign a week on Saturday.
