WITH five games remaining both Longparish and Fareham and Crofton both harboured hopes of promotion, writes CHRIS DE CANI.

Longparish batted first and were dismissed for 262 in the penultimate over with Dan Bearpark hitting 49, Michael Taplin 52 and Ben Gardner 68 as the wickets shared out among the Fareham bowling attack.

Jack Levy bagged the first Fareham wicket with the score on 74 and James Bevan took three wickets, but a brilliant unbeaten 130 by Australian James Heiniger saw Fareham pass a rain reduced target of 244 with an over to spare.

Away at AWE Tadley Longparish II scored 165-5 with Justin Jackman contributing 53 and Callum Giles 46.

Tom Trinder then took 4-19 and Alex Brinton 3-43 as AWE Tadley passed the target with one wicket and with two balls remaining.

Longparish III lost by nine wickets to league leaders Laverstock and Ford.
