ANDOVER New Street U12’s overcame an early 1-0 deficit to triumph in the local Hampshire Cup ‘derby’ with Andover Town Whites, writes Kevin Warwick.

A lovely chip over the keeper by Ashton Durrans levelled the game at 1-1, before Thomas Warwick lashed in from close range after Durrans’ shot was parried to make it 2-1.

Andover Town Whites always threatened though throughout the game and equalised early in the second half to make it 2-2.

The defence was well marshalled by Jack Pipkin and the rest of the back line, while Reece Leighton tackling hard in midfield.

The game was decided mid-way through the second half when Thomas Warwick threaded a ball through for the ever-persistent Lexie North to slot the ball nicely into the net home.

Late pressure mounted but the defence who were outstanding toward the end dug deep and Jack was required to make some good stops in goal to maintain the lead to run out 3-2 winners.
