WHERWELL beat the weather and Holybourne by 96 runs, writes EDWIN JOHN.

Under overcast conditions the home side won the toss and decided to bowl.

In a stop start innings due to the rain, the KJM Sponsored Wherwell side lost two quick wickets, but Robbie Skeates (61) and Oliver Emslie (51) rebuilt the innings, as they finished on 171.

Holybourne were set a revised target of 159 in 39 overs.

Opening bowlers Emslie (3-16) and Harry Trebert (2-20) started well and then Nathan Young (3-17) and Steve Turner (2-13) finished off the job as Holybourne were all for 75 in 25 overs.

A rare highlight for an outfield fielder with Skeates' hat-trick of catches.

Wherwell are at home to Hook IV’s on Saturday.
