WHERWELL driver Peter Kyle-Henney closed the gap on championship leader Justin Sherwood in the AM class of the Porsche Carrera Cup at Croft, writes DAVID HOLLAND.

Kyle-Henney competed for In2Racing placed his Porsche 12th on the grid after qualifying.

As the first race got underway he had a good start, and was soon up into tenth, before a safety car was deployed on lap two due to an incident.

On lap nine he moved into ninth after passing Lewis Plato and this became eighth two laps from the end of the race after Tom Roche retired.

There he remained until the chequered flag.

Race two saw him start ninth on the grid. As the lights went green he made a great start and by lap five was running sixth, as a few of those ahead of him made mistakes on what was now a wet track due to the downpour.

The safety car was deployed on lap seven with racing resuming on lap 10. Kyle-Henney slipped down the order to 10th after the re-start.

Fighting hard he managed to make up a place before the chequered flag, crossing the line in ninth place.

His 20 points haul moved Kyle-Henney second in the AM standings a point closer to championship leader Sherwood

The Wherwell driver is back in action this weekend at Oulton Park.
