WITH all eyes focussed on England women in the World Cup a young player from Nether Wallop Lexie North has taken her first steps to one day pulling on an England shirt.
The 12-year-old Andover New Street played has signed a contract with Southampton FC Academy under-14 girls section.
North attends Rookwood School and only started playing football two years ago when she joined Andover New Street Youth's Footy4Girls.
She impressed in her first season and this season she also played for Andover New Street Youth under-12 boys side.
Lynda Richmond, Andover New Street Youth President and Welfare Officer said: "Andover New Street are very happy with the progress Lexie has made and wish her all the best for the future. It is our aim that our players achieve the best they can be and we are pleased to see our youngsters moving on to bigger and better things. We are very proud of Lexie."
