Thames Valley Kings wheelchair basketball club’s junior team were beaten by Wakefield Whirlwinds in the British Wheelchair Basketball National championships final.

Kings Juniors had qualified after two huge wins at the Elite 8s finals competition in April and were all ready to give their best in the Junior League Final - a game shown on BBC Sport via IPlayer.

The game unfortunately did not go their way as they struggled to settle into the game. Whirlwinds picked up the win by 27-61.

Kings coaching staff were ultimately pleased with the overall performance of the team throughout the season and finishing second in the country is a great achievement for this young team.

In National League Division Three Finals, Kings III qualified as the best divisional runner-up.

The semi-final was a tough affair against Division Three North Winners, Tee Valley Mohawks III. Mohawks applied pressure throughout the game to Kings who struggled to break down the quick offensive players at times.

Mohawks took the big win 28-51 and would go on to become Division Three National champions after beating Sheffield Steelers III who beat Brixton Ballers in the other Semi-final.

Ballers and Kings III won a game apiece in the regular season, Both teams winning their home game by 7 points - with a points difference of zero - the 3rd/4th playoff would be a great game for sure. Kings III managed to apply defensive pressure in the second half to edge ahead and build a lead to pick up the 51-39 win.

With that win, Kings III pick up the bronze medal by finishing third nationally in Division Three.
