A GROUP of young footballers from Andover had the day of their life as they played a game at a Premier League stadium.

Players from two Andover New Street Youth teams experience the feeling of playing in a big stadium as they participated in the junior tournament at St Mary’s Stadium, the home of Premier League club Southampton FC.

The teams got to enjoy time at the stadium, walk out of the players tunnel and enjoy a tour of the changing rooms as well as play in the tournament on the main stadium pitch, set up with four pitches.

While Under 9s boys reached the quarter final of the tournament, Under 10s boys reached the final.

Martyn Ford of the U10s team said: “The whole experience, including the changing room tour and walking out through the tunnel with each player being introduced, was a special moment for us all.”

Gavin Davies of the U9s team said: “I could not be any more proud of the boys. They all got a massive pat on the back from me. A great finish for an excellent season.”
