A GIRLS’ football team in Andover are thrilled following the phenomenal win by England Women in the Euro 2022 final.

On Sunday night you could hear the Andover New Street Vixens cheering for the Lionesses as many girls gathered at the Andover New Street club house.

They cheered for the Lionesses together with flags flying and each girl buzzing with excitement and dressed for the occasion.

Ahead of the match the Vixens took to their Facebook page to share their excitement, how they would be cheering on the Lionesses and how they have been inspired but the England Team over the tournament.

U9s Vixen Grace said she is inspired by Alex Greenwood because she is a great tackler and loves Ellen White because she is an aggressive attacker.

While, U11s’ Ruby couldn't wait to watch the Lionesses in action again, especially her favourite Chelsea women Fran Kirby and Millie Bright.

U8s’ Poppy is about to start her Vixen journey in September. She said: “[Leah] Williamson is amazing at her shots, her tackles and passes. She is really confident.”

U10s’ Savannah couldn’t wait to watch the ladies in the final. She loves Earps and Bright, who are “solid at the back”.

U10s’ Freya has been inspired by Beth Mead because she has blonde hair, also wears No.7 and runs a lot. Freya hopes to be able to do as many tricks and score as many goals next year like Beth.

U13s’ Ella and Flo and U6s’ Ava have enjoyed watching all the matches and couldn't wait for the final. Mary Earp is Ella's new idol.

Andover New Street Vixens have just celebrated their first year as one of Andover’s biggest success stories for girls’ football and they see this set to continue.
