Andover Genealogy Society began their December meeting with a very informative presentation, ‘An Overview of Family Research’, by one of their members, Richard Backhouse.

It showed the many databases and records which can be used in research.

Ann McKenzie gave a review of 2017 and a preview of the very varied and interesting programme to look forward to in 2018.

There was then a break for refreshments and a chance to look at some items from the past and try and guess their uses. There was a candle snuffer, a custard jug, a button hook and a picture of very early model of a toaster. The evening then finished with a quiz.

The society’s next meeting is on 11 January at the Weyhill Fairground Hall, 7.15pm for 7.30pm start. Gordon Young will be giving a talk entitled, ‘Are we related? My search in US Records’. All are welcome to come along.
