SEVERAL weeks ago, I went to the council offices to get the computer details to look at the proposed plans, drawings photos, etc of the proposed River Park near the Town Mills.

The two receptionists had to make phone calls to find out what I was speaking about.

They obviously had not had any of the general public ask this question. Twenty minutes later I was told what to put on my computer to get the information.

I went away and used their information and viewed photos of what it looked like now and sketches of what it would look like in the future. There would be tables and chairs in the area behind the Town Mills. I thought that the crowd of rough looking drinkers that we have seen in this area recently would be pleased with these; at the moment they sometimes use the table tennis table on which to put their drinks.

Now I hear that the road leading to the car park behind Wilco is going to be closed. Is this really a good idea? Councillors think. How are the Town Mills going to get their supplies ie beer, wine, food, etc delivered. They have three car parking places for their use only and four additional places for cars in front of the offices where aged people go to ask questions. Wilco has its supplies delivered along this road to doors at the rear.

The leader of the Council says that they propose putting two slip roads from the car park onto the road adjacent. Not a good idea! The existing car park is several feet below the existing road, so the entrances would be on ramps. Entrance to the car park may not be too bad but going onto the road will be no fun. This road is very busy and controlled by traffic lights. At times the traffic can be way past the car park.

Can one imagine drivers waiting for the traffic lights to change giving way to cars coming out of the car park? I don’t think so!
