HAMPSHIRE police are urging motorcyclists and other motorists to take extra care following the sixth fatal accident involving a biker since the hot spell began.

Officers from the specialist roads policing unit say that motorcyclists should not be tempted to dress light but to continue to wear protective leathers.

Roads are also expected to be very busy over the weekend.

Other motorists are urged to 'Think Bike' and look out for riders.

Chief Inspector Andy Bottomley said: "Tragically over the course of the past week six motorcyclists have lost their life on our roads.

"This advice is very simply and shouldn't need repeating, but we need to do everything we can to stop these fatal collisions happening and protect our road users."

Additional patrols will be on Hampshire's roads over the weekend, say police.
